Hillary - Senior 2010!

Have I mentioned that my clients are awesome? A few hundred times, you say? Well, it's because they ARE. And Hillary is no exception. We had a BLAST taking photos downtown at Tanner Springs Park....

...and then we headed out to the family farm her mom grew up on!

Her adorable baby cousin was there for some moral support...

We then headed to the neighboring farms and took advantage of some AWESOME sunset light!

The Garrison Family

If you read this blog, you know that I am very blessed to have wonderful clients. I'm also blessed to have wonderful friends, and this photo session combined the best of both worlds. The Garrisons are dear friends, and when they asked me to take family shots, it didn't take long for me to think of a great (and meaningful) place to go. A lot of these images were taken at the Alpenrose Dairy in Portland, where Tanner has spent many an evening performing on stage in the Opera House with the drama group at Westside Christian High. We finished up the session on the deck of their new home, and they even let me climb on the roof to get some shots. I told you my clients were awesome!

Kendall: Bridal Portraits

I had the privilege of taking Jessica's Senior Photos a couple of weeks ago, and we had a blast! The rain held off except for when we were driving between locations, and the sun gave us just enough light to get our session in. I'd spotted the "Believe" antique store a few weeks before and knew I wanted to use it in a session, and finally got the chance. Don't forget to check the slideshow at the end. I think Jessica did a great job choosing the music! (And I love it when Seniors pick music for their slideshow... Just another way to capture their personality!)

Fall Family Portrait Special!

Since one of our favorite October traditions is going to an area Pumpkin Patch, I have decided to set aside 4 sessions specifically for my clients where I will be your personal family photographer as you pick out your pumpkin! Ryan - Senior 2010!

I had a blast taking photos with Ryan, who will be a Senior at Wilsonville High this year! We took these at the park down the hill from his home and found so many cool little spots to get shots that we nearly ran out of light!

August Wallpaper

What? You thought I forgot, didn't you? :)

I took this photo just this past weekend out at beautiful Cannon Beach, Oregon. You can't see it here, but to my left is Haystack Rock, and this whole area was the setting for the 80's movie "Goonies". The fog made photos challenging, but also provided a really cool effect. For you aspiring photographers out there, you'll notice I broke one of the unwritten photography rules about placing the horizon in the middle of your photo. But as all photography rules are made to be broken, I thought doing so gave this image good balance.

Oh, and the dog? That's my 1-year old Labrador, Boomer. Let's just say he enjoyed the ocean. And now, you can enjoy the free wallpaper!

Melissa = Senior 2010!

I had the awesome privilege of taking Melissa's Senior photos this past week. Melissa will be a Senior at West Linn High School this fall and I'm so excited that she has agreed to be a Senior Rep for me! If you are a Senior at another Portland-area High School and are interested in earning free prints, please let me know!

This session was so much fun, and Melissa had a great time too. It's so great when your client is relaxed, having a great time, and is willing to try different poses. The coolest part was that I barely had to give her any direction. She's a natural in front of the camera!

Classic Cars

It was all in honor of a gentleman from our congregation who had a passion for classic cars, but passed away this past year from a battle with cancer. A Princess Party

Last Saturday, the children's department in our church (http://www.pfcn.org) hosted a Princess Breakfast for the girls. I setup a backdrop to get some portraits of the princesses in their dresses and it was a LOT of fun! These are just a few of my favorites (Abby, the standard poodle, was the hit of the morning) and I, of course, had to include one of my own special little princess at the end.

Chris + Kendall = Engaged

My friends Chris and Kendall will be getting married this summer and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to take their engagement photos. Chris proposed on the waterfront on their 4-year anniversary, and we took a few shots on that same dock while we were downtown.

Below are some of the images we captured that day, along with the customary slideshow. I've been waiting for just the right session to use this song, one of my absolute favorites, in a slideshow. I can think of no better time than to celebrate an engagement four years in the making...

What an exciting year! I decided to put together a "best of" post of my favorite client images of 2008. I had SUCH a hard time deciding what to include, and only gave myself 2 ground-rules: (1) No pictures of my own kids (although I included one of my nephew!) and (2) try to get a variety of subjects/styles. I had so many favorites that I could have very easily included, and I want to thank each and every one of my clients for letting me capture these moments in their lives.

We set up a scavenger hunt for the kids, and they hunted for one present each to open this evening - their new Christmas jammies! They are now asleep in those jammies dreaming about tomorrow morning, I'm sure...

Boomer!

Allow me to introduce Boomer, our family dog. I took this photo on a whim as he decided to walk into our office at home while I was working one day, and it is now my favorite shot of him. I love this dog and I love his energy, enthusiasm, and how he loves to just be around us all the time.

...about Organized Doodles! What's that you say? Well I happen to call the author of http://organizeddoodles.blogspot.com a relative of mine. My cousin (okay "second cousin" if you want to get technical) has a wonderful God-given talent for drawing.

His "organized doodles" are one of my daily stops in the blogosphere and I'm happy to call this harley-riding, incredibly talented, pastor my family. In fact, I don't think I ever properly thanked him for helping me out in college with a t-shirt design my freshmen year, so "Thanks Rick!"

Introducing Rebecca Lynn...

"Rebecca Lynn, grew up in Carolina... half a mile from Tucker Cherry's farm. A quiet girl, with green eyes full of fire... Her daddy's pride and all her mama's charm..."

I thought of those lyrics that my former high-school classmate Bryan White wrote a few years back when John and Amy told me they had chosen that name for their little girl that was on the way. Well, little Rebecca Lynn decided to grace us all with her presence quite a bit earlier than planned, and I had a chance to see up close that she has all of her daddy's pride and mama's charm in one tiny little package. Congratulations, John and Amy... she's beautiful.

I had a great time taking Andrew's Senior pics last week in Lake Oswego, right near the shores of the Willamette. We had a lot of fun climbing down to the water for a few shots and I wasn't sure what I was going to do if one of us fell in. Summertime Pics!

We had a great time this 4th of July, watching fireworks in the Oak Hills neighborhood. I took the camera for some fun fireworks shots and it even survived some kid nearly stepping on it and kicking it a good couple of feet. I got lucky on that one...

Early this week, I then received a new toy. My Tamron 17-50 2.8 lens! I was so excited to get it (even though they forgot to send me the lens hood..argh!) that I had to get out in the backyard for some pics. Here are the kids after some sprinkler playing time...

My Parents' Visit

My mom and dad came into town last weekend, and the waterfalls, foggy valley, beautiful sunsets and the energetic kids made for some great photo opportunities. I've left the full size image links on the first two in case anyone wants to use them for wallpaper.

New Lens and New Year

Well I just picked up a new lens for my camera, Canon's "nifty fifty" 50mm EF f/1.8 II lens, that I absolutely love. I picked up Holly from an appointment and took this very first photo with it of a box of Christmas scarves.

I'm having a lot of fun with the new lens and below are some of the shots I've taken with it...

We were also fortunate enough to spend New Year's Weekend with some great friends down in Sunriver, OR. The kids played in the snow and provided some great photo opportunities!
